Finally 11-11-11

I found myself wanted to read funny, mysterious, and suprising books. There was books that i would read like the first page and not be interested in it all yet. I would try and read at least 30 minutes a night so that way I would not get to far behind in it. I would read only when I felt like it, before I started this class. I would have to come across a really good book; it was supper hard for me to find one of those each time I would finish one book. I would listen to people and ask them what they thought of a book. I would also look at the back of the book and even just read the first page to see if it would interest my likings or not. If not the book was right back down and I would go to the next one. I did not meet the quota each week there was a few were I was behind a little bit or right on the dot!

Bells Ringing

The Wedding bells began to ring when I opened the book. The season was summer so it was amazing outside for this beautiful even that was about to happen. There was friends talking to her paents and why her parents liked her friends. The friends were respectful to her parents but not so much as to her, she would say they drink all our milk when the come over after school for a SNACK.

Court Time

The court room was packed not knowing what was going to happen. The unbelieveable time for the judge and the jury, because they did not want to make the wrong choice on whether or not to let him go because of some stupid "health" problem or disregaurd it within the next few days. They had students and parents waiting to hear what the confiction was going to be and how everything was going to be handled.

Quote 1:
"It's funny how one summer can change everything." That Summer by Sarah Dessen
This is soooo true! Whenever summer comes around it changes in so many different people- who your friends are, work, personality, the flings, parties, activities, and more. Although no one really notices until that first day back to school when your talking to other people that last year would have never been a person to comunicate with.
Quote 2:
"Some woman in the front roe, wearing a purple hat, started crying immediately, and as the minitser got to the vows Helen was tearing up as well." That Summer by Sarah Dessen
When you go to weddings there is always the ones who cry; noticing the first one to drop a tear is the one remembered forever. When the others start to cry it is like a chain reaction gone mad, one after another after another.

Common Weakness
1.JimmehFTW
"His defiant and thick skinned nature jumps out when he explains that all the background information about his life is just "David Copperfield kind of crap" that bores him."
This has phrases that are vague, which is common weakness number 3. Above is just one of the sentences to which I found.

2.Happy Go Lucky
"In the excerpt from The Mezzanine  by Nicholson Baker, he writes with an elevated refinement that is both dignified and straight-forward."
This phrase is common weakness  is to vague which is number 3.

3.To Kill A Mockingjay
"Baker describes his surroundings as "towering volumes of marble and glass" and "long glossy highlights to each of the black rubber handrails"."
This phrase had punctuation was in the wrong place. Which is number 8 on the weakness paper.

4.Bookworm Days
"The language that used is not over sophisticated, yet it is neither vulgar nor blunt."
This phrase was weakness number 6. the usage of  "use"

Best Overall
1. The Average Life of a Teenage Bookworm
"In J. D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye, the coarsely low-level formality, barefaced connotation, and caterwauling sound convey the matter-of-fact attitude the character has towards his situation. Salinger describes the parents as "touchy as hell" but also as "nice and all" which suggests that the character cares for his parents but has to give reason for not explaining his childhood. He has no patience for small talk or background information referring to it as that "kind of crap." The skipping of details infers the apathetic regard and reluctance of speaking about the topic and telling people his story in general."

The Mezzanine, Nicholson Baker

The Mezzanine, written by Nicholson Baker is elegant, elevated, and also scholarly in the verbs being used. This excerpt was not extremely musical. It was also literal in denotation, as while reading it. Throughout the excerpt Barker used excellent verbs and description to explain all of the sentences.

Great Book

This is a great book. Although it goes from ten years ago till recent, to a day after.. It gets confusing if you do not follow it exactly on point! I really like this book right now he is on trial and is waitingl the people there think he should get till death. The ones on his side think that he should get off, because he has some mental issues.... well that they are trying to find but none have been really found yet.

Quarterly

This semester was a pretty good one. I had ended up with a few good books and would tell my mom that she should read one. I did have a book that was not really my cup of tea and it kind of was boring when I look back on it. Somee weeks I would make the page limit as others I would not. I tried, I get really busy and do not have time to read. Reading is almost in my everyday plan, but sometimes I cannot fit it in. I get really busy and are not really sure how I am going to make the page numbers. I have been getting into books more as I read then, because I am begining to realize what interest me and well what really does not. I am a slow reader as well, so that kind of puts me at a disadvantage. I will always have to put more time in to reading than some other students do.

New book

Nineteen Minutes, is the best book so far. The book is about teenagers and how there was a shooting at their school. Some died, some wounded, and some perfectly fine, were they on the list? That was the question. There were many hurt, but they knew who did it. He was mad at all the poeple on his list, but he did cross out one names and she ended up with some wounds here and there. The killer had killed her boyfriend though. She was upset and no one knew how to really tell her, because he had died in her arms as she did not want to believe he died.

Quote 1:
" It feels like a rattlesnake winds around in my stomach." The Chosen One
This is a good quote, because I get this feeling a lot of times. It feels like butterflies, except she used a different metaphor. This only happens when someone makes you feel loved or even when someone scares you, or you are scared. Butterflies come into your stomach when you get really nervious. She was nervious for a bad reason, so now that I know this if something bad is going on and I get "butterflies" I might start calling them, "rattlesnakes"

Quote 2:
" I look back at her, and there I am again, in her sunglasses." The Chosen One
This quote is good, because I am alwayhs in someone elses sunglasses if I forget mine. Sunglasses are the number one thing when the sun is out whether it is shinning in your face or not. When wearing sunglasses it hides what you are directly looking at.

Quote 3:
"Powerful and unforgettable will break you heart." David Ebershoff
I like this, because it is so true!!! If you try and control things your heat will get broken many times throughout your own life. When you do not forgive people that will hold grudges around you and people will see the hurt. It is not hurting the other person; it is hurting you the most of all. the end of all of this is trying to tell you that putting things aside would be a better idea than just keeping them next to you deep within.

Wow, good ending.

i finished the chosen one! i enjoyed this book a lot! it is not the typical book i would ead but i pushed myself through it. the family had stuck up for her so she would n ot have to marry her nasty uncle. they had told the "prophet" that this was uncalled for and so they had told him and they did not enjoy the harsh words that was said to them, but they did not care. she had giot to be with the guys she fell in love with earlier in the book.

Marry

The girl who is thirteen years of age has to marry her uncle. How grows is that? Her family thinks this is horrible as well, but she does not know that yet. this book is so good. I would not know what to say about having to marry my uncle. My uncle is soo annoying! I would be as upset as she would even because she is in love with another boy! They told the boy he had to move out and not to ever come or contact them.

UGHHHH!!!

So school is going by fast some what! I am so ready to be done; my last day of school will be December 16 and I cannot wait!!! I am so ready for Christmas break and the time to come after that! I am not so sure what is going to happen in the long run, but all I know is I will be "graduated" from Homestead and moving forward with my life. Today is a freezing cold day not much to really do when its cold outside. We have a birthday party to go to it is my niece's. Looks just like her mother! I have a busy week ahead of me; it will be really crazy and packed.

Quote 1:
"Our trailer is so small we can hear one another's thoughts." The Chosen One
I enjoy this quote and found it funny, because sometimes I feel like that is how it is in my house. I am looking forward to moving out and that is one aspect I look at our close will we really be!! AHH!

Quote 2:
"My heart just about leapt through the bones of my chest." The Chosen One
I know exactly how it feels to think your heart almost jumped out of your heart!! It is a scary feeling, because there is nothing you can do to change the way you feel about it. Enjoying why she jumped made it all better. Her father had yelled at her to sit down when she wanted to get up; through, her father had never put a hand on her yet in the novel.

Quotes of the Month

pages: 104

"The teacher called me "Frankenstein Arms" because I would move my right arm in unison with my right leg, like Frankenstein." Bossypants
I like this one because it is kind of hard to walk like this and she does it on her own. This is normal for her, it is just really crazy! I would have enjoyed watching that! It is so much fun to think about this and how she would walk.
"He used to say that if you picked a dandelion, two would grow back in its place."  Change of Heart
I like this qoute, because they would always say that to me. I would always see if this statement was true. This is not very true!!!!!
"The questions are bullshit." Change of Hearts
I love this, because sometime I just think to myself... that question can answer itself! and why would you ask it anyway expecially if you already know the answer.

The moment

This book is sooo funny!!! I laugh every time I read it. I do not want to put it down after I start. It is so realistic its crazy!!! no one can really put down the way of knowing how stuff works around the world, because its almost the exact same thing. The book is about Tina Fey's life in which case it is the way life used to be. It is similar to the way we live today as well in ways.

Real world

She would sit back and explain basically what we see now in a way. She had many gay friends in which case she was not even embarrased she would pretend that one of them was her boyfriend. In the end of all this she would go to parties with them and she would be the girl with all the gay guys while all the blonde girls were with their boyfriends. She loved being around them. She would always be honest with the men and would think of herselfl as having a ton of guy friends. She had a crush on one of them, but of course that was not going to work.

Three Poems so Far!

1. Poem to be read at 3 a.m. written by Donald Justice
2. First Kiss written by April Lardner
3. September Twelfth, 2011

"Poem to be read at 3 a.m"
I like this poem, because it seems to amaze me that I am awake at 3 in the morning. I turn my lights on when I awake or I just turn the television on to give me some light. When I am awake at least one person drives by. I think to myself what in the world are you doing awake and driving for that matter.

"First Kiss"
I laughed when we read this poem, because it is humorous. I did not think about this when my first kiss would come about! I honestly did not want to deal with it, that's why I would not think about it. I would stop myself in think who will it be. The poem kind of explains what some people end up think about when it happens or at least about to.

"September twelfth, 2011"
I liked this poem, because it showed how everything worked out. It gave details of how the world has changed. It made us realize that we still all do have freedom even though a terrible thing had happened. We did not have an understatement of what happened. This came to show what most citizens where doing. We were worried what the United States would come to and to be honest things did not turn out as bad as we all thought. We have lost many people since the attack, but nevertheless we are still one!

"The teacher called me "Frankenstein Arms" because i would move my right arm in unison with my right leg, like Frankenstein." Bossypants
I enjoyed this one because it is so hard to even remotely try and walk like that. everytime i try and do so i begin to trip over myself! So not easy how could she do this on a noraaml basis.

Quote 2:
"My generation carries that with us, only to be constantly disappointed by Kanye West and Taylor Swift." Bossypants
i enjoyed this as well, because this comes to show that her time did not haveto people on stage making rude comments. Kayne West was very rude to Taylor Swift when she did not even have anything to do with the voting! When we were watching it; we thought did that really just happen.

Just like Now

The book Bossypants is just like today. Tina Fey explains how blonde girls were more poplar when she was younger! She talks about all her dates and how they went about. She was just like all of us when she was young. Tina Fey was supprisingly more easy going when she had kids. She would always be herself and would not try to act like anybody else. The book is sooo funny! it just gives me more to think about when when book has details it makes me wan to look around and see if that is still the case today! I do not want to put the book down it is sooo good!

Bossypants

I started reading a new book its called Bossypants by Tina Fey. It is really funny. She kind of has a little how to live type way or when she was little how things worked. The book kind of still goes with the way we live!!!! She had no idea what becoming a woman consist o so her mother bought her a book and didn't say much to her about it. Funny it is kind of how I found out!

Finished Change of Heart

it was an amazing book. It was very suprising at the end! it was extrememly crazy!!!! I was sad the book ended! they eded on a good/badd note. She was going to take the heart!

End of the Week

I have been reading Change of Heart. I did not read as much this week, because I was really busy.
Quote 1:
"He used to say that if you picked a dandelion, two would grow back in its place."  Change of Heart
I think this because almost everyone who talks about it says that samething. Now if it is true or not we won't know until it is tested.
Quote 2:
"If I didn't take Bourne's heart, Claire would most likely die." Change of Heart
I choose this one, because he had killed Claire's sister.

Change of Mind

June changed her mind she wants to meet with Shay but for what?? Oh no so excited to see what will happen!!! I wonder if this will be a good or a bad outcome! I hope it is a little bit of both! If i was June I would have so much to say to that man. The things I would like to say would not be good either after he killed my husband and daughter!

Donate

Shay, the man who killed a father and a daughter in their own home, wants to donate his heart to the little sister so she can live. The mother, June, is upset because she does not know what to do about any of this! She thinks if she does not then her daughter might die and then she is thinking on the other hand if she does she might die anyway. She does not want Shay or anything of him to be left on this earth... Whatever will she end up doing? Will she allow him to give her daughter the heart she needs or will she make her wait? This is a very hard decision to make on June's part. She wants to do what is right but then again its the man who killed her husband and her oldest daughter.

Weird

I read a saying and thought it was very funny... It had said that in the jail during the summer it had been hot and in the winter he was freezing. The priest had asked one of the inmates why this was, and he said he had no idea but he hated it. I thought this was the funniest thing, because at times that is how it is in school. Not many people enjoy it so that is why they do that in the jail! Then then Lucius had brought up my mom's favorite show back to when it was on, Prision Break! Weird!!!!

Friday

They were close on some of the things it had to say. It had said that I like to help others. The other part that was right as well is the fact that i do not like to share my feelings with anyone, but i am very emotional! The one thing that was off was Judging people, I have a bad habit with judging people around me, but I do keep my comments to myself.

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

1."My own words to Alma came back to me: It's not probable. Anything's possible." Change of Heart
~This quote caught my eye because anything is possible to do. I alway say somethings are impossible and well after reading this quote it made me realize that anyone can do anything for the most part. There is not much a person cannot do unless they do not trying!
2."Kurt's arms were wrapped tight around my daughter; Elizabeth rested her head on his chest." Change of Heart
~This was talking about when they were in the coffin together. They let June put them in one. This caught my eye, because my grandma has just pasted away. It was like an every night thing for them to do, lay down together that way. Their bodies were going to be that way just like they were evey night. I wish people could do it daily. I am not sure if people are aloud to do that or not but i have not heard of it. Although you would not be able to unless the people had died together or on the same day.

In the Prision

When I read all the statements about what has happened in the prision... well it cracks me up! They fight and argue with each other. This makes you realize that different people are in prision for a reason. Shay had been called the Messiah. All the guys some how managed away to share one piece of gum with six guys. They had got caught with the gum in their mouths. Lucuis, one of the inmates, had AIDS. Asummingly the day after he had chewed the gum he did not have it anymore. The nurse said that this was not even possible, but the truth was he did not have it anymore. This was a shock to everyone around. Shay wants to donate his organs after they execute him. The warden of the prision thinks that it is the most stupid idea ever, because they will not be working or good anymore! When he had got convicted there was a priest on the jury. The warden had asked Michael, the priest to come into the prision and talk to Shay. He had agree hoping that Shay did not remember who he was. This was his first time being in the jail in which case everything was still new to him. When they had got to that section of the jail the warden had paged the guy in the tower. He had told him to open up Shay's cell. But he opened all of the cell doors and every inmate ran out! Can you say crazy!

A Sad Begining!

The Change of Heart is a great book so far! There is a lady named June who lost her husband and oldest daughter. She had come home one day, eight months pregnant, to find her husband and daughter covered in their own blood. Her husband's name was Kurt. Kurt was a police officer a very good and respected one at that. June's daughter's name was Elizabeth, she was seven-years-old when she was killed. Shay Bourne, the guy who killed the two of them, was helping the family add on to their house. Shay came out to be a wonderful guy, but like most people say you cannot judge a book by its cover. Shay had to go to trial, all the evidence lead to him the question just was what was the verdict to this all. The jury finally came to a conclusion that he would be executed for his wrong doing. He had went to prision, where he was in a cell by himself. By this time June had already had her babygirl, Claire. She was going to need a heart transplant. Meanwhile Shay was still surving time in the prision meeting the poeple around him in the other cells. There was one inmate that did not like him, because he had killed a child. Reading a long answered a few questions; he could not write words. When Shay would try and write all of his letters would get messed up and come on the paper wrong. Change of Heart was a sad story at some points!

Change of Heart

I am getting ready to read the novel, Change of Heart. I am excited, because I have read books by Jodi Picoult before! Will keep you updated.
